The Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies (IPLWS) is sponsoring 2 ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ student interns in the AY 2025-2026 in the Main Office of the IPLWS (Forman Center 202 on east campus). The paid internship focuses on the ongoing community educational projects of the IPLWS such as the Art Calendar contest and public history projects.

• full time student at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ
• declared major, minor or a student-designed major in Portuguese
• minimum GPA: 3.0

General Responsibilities

• reports to the Director of the IPLWS
• works in team projects

Time and Compensation

• total of up to 30 hours/semester starting at $20/hr to be paid monthly; total stipend up to $600.00/semester
• average of 2-4 hours per week (flexible) in Fall and Spring semesters

Scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to study the Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. A limited number of scholarships, based on the availability of institutional and private funds, will be awarded to academically meritorious students who have met eligibility requirements and the criteria of the respective scholarship fund and donor.

• matriculated into a baccalaureate degree program at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ
• attained and continue to maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.67, a B-
• declared a major or minor in Portuguese

Revocation or Decline of Award

The IPLWS reserves the right to cancel any scholarship or aid awarded at any time if the applicant fails to meet the standards of academic progress, any other scholarship requirements, or falsifies information reported.

The Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ will award scholarships to partially support the tuition of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ student participants in study abroad or internship programs in Portugal or other Portuguese-speaking nations. Limited funds are available, and awards depend upon the pool of applications presented. In previous years, awards have ranged from $1,000 to $6,000.

• meet all ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Study Abroad requirements
• accepted and/or enrolled in a course or program abroad
• demonstrate a commitment or intention to study Portuguese at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ

Please Note: Students in their graduating year who are completing or have already completed all requirements in the minor or major in Portuguese are eligible to apply.​

Awarded funds will be disbursed to the student’s ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ account upon:
