Professor Aho was a faculty member at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ for eighteen years, from 1977-1995.
While at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ he had 14 scholarly articles published in refereed journals, and received a National Endowment for the Humanities Research Fellowship For College Teachers in 1983 to conduct research in Trinidad and Tobago, where he had previously taught for a year, and received several research grants from ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ.
He served on several college committees at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ, chairing some, and was active in the community, organizing the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Heritage Association of RI in 1981, among other volunteer activities.
He brought to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ for performances a talented dance company from Trinidad and Tobago, and a famed calypso singer. ​​​​
